Atlantic Group is hiring a Remote HR Background Investigator (Temporary) to support our client with pre-employment investigations. In this contract role, you’ll assess candidate suitability and security clearance eligibility through virtual interviews, records research, and report writing. Ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in HR operations, background screening, and compliance who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities as the Remote HR Background Investigator:

  • Pre-Employment Investigations: Conduct fact-based investigations through virtual interviews, records retrieval, and data analysis.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare concise reports and ensure all activities follow legal, federal, and agency standards.
  • Background Verification: Execute criminal and civil checks, resolve inconsistencies, and verify candidate data.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with team leads, review officers, and clients to ensure thorough investigations.
  • Operational Efficiency: Organize records, improve background check workflows, and support additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications for the Remote HR Background Investigator:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Business, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 3+ years conducting employment or background investigations, ideally within HR operations, corporate compliance, or government contract environments.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in HRIS platforms including Workday, SAP, and ServiceNow, with strong Excel skills and advanced data management capabilities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiar with investigative standards, security clearance processes, and background screening regulations, with experience in HR Shared Services and customer-focused environments.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills, with sharp attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English and French, Spanish, or German highly preferred.
