Job Overview – Fleet & Equipment Manager:
Compensation: $75,000 – $115,000/year + bonus
Location: Macon, GA

Oversee the full lifecycle of commercial vehicles and construction equipment as a Fleet & Equipment Manager with our client in Macon, GA. This hands-on role includes acquisition, maintenance, repairs, compliance, and tracking. You’ll lead cost-saving initiatives, manage vendor relationships, enforce DOT regulations, and drive performance using fleet software systems. Ideal for candidates with strong fleet operations experience, equipment maintenance expertise, and a data-driven, compliance-focused approach.

Responsibilities as the Fleet & Equipment Manager:

  • Fleet Operations: Oversee acquisition, maintenance, registration, and replacement of all vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure fleet meets DOT regulations and internal safety standards through regular inspections and maintenance.
  • Policy & Cost Management: Develop fleet policies, manage budgets, and drive cost-saving initiatives across all fleet activities.
  • Technology & Reporting: Utilize fleet tracking software (e.g., Samsara, Fleetio) to monitor usage, optimize routes, and maintain accurate records.
  • Vendor & Coordination: Manage subcontractors, insurance claims, and collaborate across departments to align fleet strategy with business goals.

Qualifications for the Fleet & Equipment Manager:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: 5+ years in fleet or logistics management with hands-on vehicle and equipment maintenance, including 3 years managing large fleets preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred).
  • Certification: NAFA Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with fleet management software (e.g., Samsara, Verizon Connect, Fleetio) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation compliance, vehicle repair standards, and construction equipment operations.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive approach to operational improvement.
