Job Overview – Associate/Senior Associate (Compliance Officer):
Step into a critical compliance role with our client in New York, NY, where you’ll be responsible for safeguarding the organization against financial crimes and ensuring adherence to ethical standards. This hybrid role focuses on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions compliance, and anti-corruption efforts while also supporting the Code of Ethics compliance program and policy violation investigations.
Compensation: $100,000 – $140,000/year base ($160,000 All-In)
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)
Responsibilities as the Associate/Senior Associate (Compliance Officer):
- AML & Sanctions Compliance: Conduct transaction and counterparty reviews across all business lines to ensure compliance with anti-money laundering and sanctions regulations.
- Electronic Surveillance & Risk Assessment: Monitor and analyze electronic communications for compliance risks and regulatory adherence.
- Code of Ethics Oversight: Review and approve personal securities trading, outside business activities, and gift and entertainment requests via StarCompliance.
- Policy Violation Management: Investigate and manage potential violations of the Code of Ethics program, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
- Political Contribution Compliance: Conduct surveillance reviews using Illumis (or similar platforms), escalating concerns as necessary.
- Compliance Training & Program Management: Develop, review, and distribute compliance training materials through e-learning platforms, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
Qualifications for the Associate/Senior Associate (Compliance Officer):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3-7 years of compliance experience, with a focus on AML, sanctions, and financial crime prevention.
- Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of AML/sanctions compliance tools such as Bridger (Lexis-Nexis), Dow Jones Risk Center, Sayari, or similar platforms.
- Code of Ethics Systems: Experience with compliance software such as StarCompliance, MyComplianceOffice, or ComplySci.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across senior and junior teams.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
