Job Overview – Medical Laboratory Assistant:
Join our healthcare client in Irving, TX, as a Medical Laboratory Assistant, where you will perform routine laboratory tasks to support the professional staff and facilitate lab production. This role requires precision and accuracy in handling specimens and laboratory equipment.
Compensation: $16/hour
Location: Irving, TX
Schedule: 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Tuesday to Saturday
Responsibilities as the Medical Laboratory Assistant:
- Specimen Handling: Sort, receive, and prepare specimens for testing, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and checking for clots.
- Lab Maintenance: Perform routine instrument maintenance, decontaminate work areas, and change gas cylinders.
- Record Keeping: Record data, maintain department records, and resolve pending lists.
- Safety Compliance: Follow PPE requirements, safety regulations, and dispose of biohazardous material.
- Support Duties: Assist with reagent/media preparation, perform QA/QC tasks, and complete training as required.
Qualifications for the Medical Laboratory Assistant:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required (medical assistant training and math/science coursework preferred).
- Skills: Ability to establish work priorities, handle multiple tasks, and retain learned information.
- Interpersonal Skills: Must interact with coworkers and customers with courtesy and respect.
