Job Overview – Temporary Medical Assistant

Remuneration: $21.00 – $24.00
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Direct Patient Care:

  • Create a welcoming environment for patients and ensure they're prepared for their appointments
  • Conduct vital signs, weight and height measurements, EKGs, eye and hearing exams as required
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation
  • Assist with therapeutic procedures and administer medications as directed
  • Handle and preserve bodily fluids, specimens, and administer rapid HIV tests
  • Prepare and administer vaccinations as needed

Indirect Patient Care:

  • Prepare forms and documentation for patient visits
  • Assist with referrals, including coordinating appointments and notifying patients
  • Manage medication refill requests efficiently

Laboratory Services:

  • Perform standard lab tests following established protocols
  • Handle and process laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation
  • Record, track, and forward lab results as required

Equipment and Supplies:

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and order as needed
  • Ensure proper maintenance of lab equipment according to guidelines

Triage and Support:

  • Collect patient information for triage purposes, assisting primary care providers and clinical nurses
  • Contribute to the smooth functioning of the practice by supporting data entry and cross-training as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification and current CPR certification
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Solid knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and clinical practices
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and medical office software
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate patient-centered approach
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in patient care and documentation
