Join our client’s dynamic team as the Senior Vice President of External Affairs in Wilmington, DE, or Washington, DC. This full-time role involves overseeing Corporate Communications, Government, and Labor Relations for the Company. Location: Wilmington, DE, or Washington, DC
Compensation: $180,000 – $250,000/year + bonus
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities as the Senior Vice President, External Affairs:
Government Relations:

  • Monitoring and Communication: Track and communicate government activities affecting the business.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist senior leadership with regulatory planning.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain relationships with government entities and agencies.
  • Advocacy: Collaborate with industry advocates and introduce legislative changes.

Corporate Communications:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement a communications strategy to build and maintain a positive corporate brand.
  • Content Management: Ensure the corporate website’s content is current and relevant.
  • Media Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with media and government officials.
  • Policy Development: Implement policies to enhance communication department efficiency.

Labor Relations:

  • Program Implementation: Maintain labor relations programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Union Relations: Serve as the conduit between the company and union officials.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Investigation Management: Act as the point of contact for investigations and governmental responses.
  • Advisory Role: Advise HR and managers on compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications for the Senior Vice President, External Affairs:

  • Experience: 10+ years in public relations, advocacy, and public policy.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, managerial, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Government, English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: Prior experience with Unions preferred. Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card required or ability to obtain one.
