Position Overview – Senior Accountant II:
Our client, a well-regarded mutual insurance carrier, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Finance department. In this role, you will support general accounting, financial reporting, tax, and compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, solutions-oriented professional who can work cross-functionally with leaders across the organization to provide accurate and timely information that drives strategic decisions.

Compensation: $100,000.00 – $110,000.00
Location: Norfolk County, Massachusetts – Hybrid 

Responsibilities as the Senior Accountant include:

  • Conducting balance sheet and income statement reconciliation and analysis, including supporting schedules
  • Managing investment accounting, reporting, compliance, and performance review
  • Overseeing corporate underwriting expense exhibit, including accruals, accounts payable, and allocations
  • Ensuring integrity in commission incentive calculations for agents
  • Handling financial reporting to NAIC and other state and regulatory entities
  • Performing general ledger account reconciliation and analysis, resolving issues and providing explanations
  • Generating Board of Directors and Management reports on a quarterly and ad hoc basis.
  • Facilitating annual Statutory and GAAP external audits
  • Supporting Federal and State tax reporting and compliance, including book to tax adjustments
  • Managing reinsurance accounting and reporting for assumed and ceded programs

Requirements for the Senior Accountant include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Advanced degree and/or CPA desired
  • 6+ years of related experience with increasing responsibilities, including staff work product review
  • Previous public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects with strict deadlines
  • Poise in high-pressure situations, making decisive decisions
  • Ability to problem solve through independent research, critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
