Job Overview – Director, Fund Accounting:
Our client, a prominent organization in New York City, is actively seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Fund Accounting to join their team. This role involves overseeing fund operations and reporting processes, managing financial statements, and leading a team of finance professionals.

Location: New York, NY
Compensation: $170,000 – $190,000/year + bonus
Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities as the Director, Fund Accounting:

  • Fund Operations Management: Oversee the entire fund operations and reporting process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP Investment Company Accounting.
  • Financial Review: Review financial statements and investor reporting, manage external audits, and oversee tax reporting processes.
  • Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and motivate a team of finance professionals, monitoring performance to achieve targets.
  • Data Analysis: Compile, analyze, and prepare financial data and operating metrics for quarterly reviews.
  • Business Planning: Work on business plan information, including forecasted financials, strategic initiatives, and industry cycle overviews.
  • Liquidity Monitoring: Monitor liquidity and assess capital needs for the business.
  • Financial Accuracy: Review financial information and analytics to ensure reporting accuracy and optimal performance.
  • Investor Relations: Manage investor capital calls and distributions.

Qualifications for the Director, Fund Accounting:

  • Experience: 7-9 years of experience with a mix of public and private accounting.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of US GAAP – Investment Company Accounting, fund accounting experience, and advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Leadership: Experience managing staff through large projects and tight timelines, demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, focusing on efficiency and process improvement.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively within a complex organization.
