Job Overview – Audit Associate
As an Audit Associate with a focus on financial assurance and auditing, you will play a vital role in auditing and ensuring financial compliance for clients both in and out of New York. This job is at a well-known NYC accounting firm that cares deeply about ethics, career development, and work-life balance. In this role, you will gather, study, and report financial data to help clients follow financial regulations, providing them with the assurance they need.

Compensation: $55,000.00 – $75,000.00 + bonus
Location: New York City

Responsibilities of an Audit Associate include:

  • Conducting thorough financial audits to identify deficient controls, accounting errors, irregularities, fraud, or noncompliance with laws and regulations
  • Preparing and presenting audit reports in adherence to relevant standards
  • Examining account books and accounting systems to evaluate their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with accepted accounting procedures
  • Maintaining effective communication with clients and colleagues to ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions and adherence to legal requirements
  • Assessing and enhancing financial and information systems' reliability and integrity by recommending controls
  • Efficiently planning audit engagements and closely monitoring budgets
  • Conducting research as required to support audit findings
  • Taking ownership of specific aspects of engagements and ensuring their successful completion
  • Providing guidance, delegating tasks to, and overseeing junior staff and interns

Qualifications for the Audit Associate include: 

  • A minimum of two years of recent, relevant audit work experience, preferably at medium-sized public accounting firms
  • A bachelor's (BA/BS) or master's (MS) degree in accounting
  • CPA credential or eligibility is mandatory
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients, prospects, staff, and colleagues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and auditing/tax standards for supervising staff and resolving routine engagement issues
