Tax Specialist

Responsibilities

 

  • Preparations related to: Computations of partnership taxable income, partnership book and tax allocations, tax estimates, Schedule K-1s and tax returns; Forms 926, 8858, 8865, 8886, 5471, and W-8 as well as any other required tax filings.; ASC 740 Uncertain Tax Position analyses; Monthly NRA Withholding Statements; The month-end close process and production of reconciliations related to balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Analyze and identify book-to-tax differences including wash sales, PFICs, bond bifurcation, and accretion/amortization of discount/premium.
  • Document tax and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assess and evaluate reporting processes and systems to ensure they are efficient and effective. Work with internal technical resources to enhance existing processes and develop new systems as required.
  • Additional responsibilities may include researching and implementing operational improvements, ad hoc analysis and special projects.

 

Requirements

 

  • BA degree in accounting or finance. CPA, MST or working towards a CPA or MST preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years financial services experience with exposure to the taxation of financial products and hedge/mutual funds or investment companies preferred.
  • Knowledge of fixed income securities, derivatives and complex financial instruments.
  • Proficient with software, including advanced MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of Total Return accounting system (an SS&C Globe-Op platform) a plus.
