Senior Storage Engineer

  • Perform daily storage administration, including maintenance and trend analysis of the storage and backup infrastructure.
  • Provide day-to-day technical, administrative, and functional support for the various infrastructure systems.
  • Act as a point of contact to analyze and resolve reported technical issues and/or performance issues with the various data center storage hardware and backup platforms.
  • Administer block and file storage and data replication across multiple datacenters.
  • Maintain and support a multisite cloud and datacenter storage and backup environment.
  • Ensure stable support of enterprise servers, disk-based storage appliances, tape libraries, as well as VMware ESXi environments.
  • Create documentation and guide tier 1 resources on the day-to-day monitoring of storage systems and other relevant devices.
  • Participate in the creation (or modification) of documentation activities related to system configuration, policies, and procedures, including the overall structure and standards for documentation.
  • Conduct routine audits of storage infrastructure to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises and actual events
  • Evaluate and test software changes and updates supplied by vendors, prior to installation
  • Maintain proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications
  • Provide 24/7 support in the event of scheduled/unscheduled downtime and participate in a rotational on-call schedule
  • Communicate storage capacity and performance trends, issues and outages to management and peers
  • Acquire knowledge, via both formal and on-the-job training of the various 3rd party packaged software applications and custom solutions used to provide monitoring, management, and reporting
  • Perform related duties as required











  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (preferred) or work experience demonstrating skills and accomplishments
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in providing direct, hands-on support of storage / data replication systems, including engineering, configuration, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting experience with an Enterprise Storage Platform, within a predominantly Microsoft environment
  • Experience in large, production-oriented service operations, with experience in a 24x7x365 service delivery model supporting mission-critical business operations with large data volumes highly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Windows servers and server virtualization
  • Experience supporting Windows clusters, SQL Server and SharePoint
  • 5+ years of experience with the following EMC storage platforms: Unity, VNX, Data Domain and Isilon highly preferred
  • PowerMax (VMAX) and/or VBlock experience a plus
  • Strong customer service oriented and ability to interact with clients, staff, and management team
  • Capacity to successfully manage simultaneous requests from start to finish
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift devices weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must have the ability to work full time in an office environment at a computer screen for significant portions of the work day
