Responsibilities

 

  • Actively managing the existing fund investments and establishing ways to ensure diversification and optimize investment returns
  • Coordinating with internal and external legal and tax advisors to achieve optimal investment structuring and to ensure that the investments meet maximum tax efficiency
  • Coordinating with the Operations and Control departments to ensure accurate investment accounting
  • Regularly interacting with the Natural Resources team abroad and colleagues within the US to exchange knowledge, discuss investment ideas, and share best investment practices
  • Conducting market research and identifying relevant market trends and developments
  • Contributing to the development of investment policies and strategies
  • Originating, negotiating, and structuring natural resources investments in the Americas predominantly through funds, co-investments, joint-ventures and investor-led platforms, promoting investment diversification and achieving appropriate risk-adjusted investment returns
  • Preparing presentations for internal and external meetings
  • Proactively networking through meetings with relevant industry participants, attending conferences, etc. to facilitate information flow and identify investment opportunities.

 

Requirements                                             

 

  • Graduate degree in related field (e.g. Agro Economics or Forest Economics); CFA would be preferred
  • Strong numerical and (data) analytical skills
  • 8+ years of relevant working experience across the major farm and timberland markets in the Americas
  • High affinity with and/or experience in managing sustainable farm and timberland strategies focused on the improvement and/or preservation of natural capital
  • Comprehensive understanding of asset management processes and industry best practices, including understanding of long-term investments with a clearly defined investment discipline
  • Experience in transaction modelling/underwriting, forecasting, and conducting due diligence
  • Adaptable and able to apply themselves to a broad range of demands
  • Culturally sensitive and capable of working in a diverse team of individuals from different backgrounds
