Responsibilities

 

  • User Requirements gathering and analysis, preparing User Requirements Specifications (URS) deliverables
  • Progressively acquire a profound knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle methodology (SDLC) and increasingly fluent skills in using the relevant tools. These tools include the platform systems for validated documentation, particularly MyCIMS
  • Become familiar with the IT project approval process, including the stage gates particularly advancement from Plan phase to Execute phase
  • Be familiar with industry-standard data and metadata standards and deliverables – be capable of interacting with Data Analysts, Database Administrators, ETL engineers
  • Understand the use of data in Research, including genomic data types, formats, structures
  • Co-work with members of Research teams on specific projects
  • Interface with business contacts to represent IT
  • Understand the range of services offered by IT, develop a professional network inside IT and in the business, keep other members of Research IT informed, encourage input from other teams in IT, interface with other teams in IT to coordinate support to the business
  • Gain familiarity with IT’s strategy, including our Functional and Platform Roadmaps as appropriate

 

Requirements

 

  • Ideal candidate should have at least a BA or BS in a relevant life science or information science domain.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in life science research, ideally as a combination of life scientist or IT professional.
  • 3+ years’ experience of business analysis, with applied understanding of software and product management life cycle methodologies.
  • Understanding of established and emerging information technologies used by discovery research labs, including inventory, registration, LIMS, ELN, data mart, data analytics.
  • Self-motivation with a strong professional ethos – capable of operating largely without direct supervision.
  • Enthusiastic business partnering & collaboration skills, willing to establish and sustain effective working relationships, both within & between departments.
  • Promote opportunities for applying information technology to business problems; represent IT
