Responsibilities

 

  • Research, evaluate and make recommendations regarding current and state of-the-art trends in risk management, safety and loss control strategies.
  • Develop, implement and manage comprehensive and competitive insurance programs for the firm’s real estate portfolios and corporate operations, including the negotiation of policy terms and conditions.
  • Allocate premiums and create insurance budgets, forecasts, financial reports.
  • Report and manage all liability and property related claim request from insurance carriers and outside legal counsel; participate in claim review meetings and analysis of claim reserves.
  • Provide consultation and technical advice on insurance and risk management issues to departments; laisse with internal and external stakeholders, including partners, lenders, asset and property managers.
  • Perform asset acquisition due diligence, identifying and analyzing significant risk management and insurance issues, compiling required underwriting data and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Negotiate and maintain strong relationships with and manage services provided by insurers, brokers, claims counsel and other service providers necessary to the management of the risk management programs.
  • Establish contract standards for insurance and indemnification wording; review contracts and other legal documents to evaluate risk related provisions, assuring competitiveness and compliance with insurance and risk management policies.
  • Maintain annual records of and analyze the insurance provided by joint venture partners for compliance with applicable agreements
  • Coordinate the collection and review of insurance certificates from tenants, contractors, joint venture partners and other third parties to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Overseeing the administration of the vendor onboarding system (Enterprise Risk Control).
  • Develop and implement relevant risk management policies, training and communication to ensure compliance of legal and corporate governance strategies.
  • Report to Board of Directors on the enterprise risk management, crisis response and cyber related risk management strategies on an annual basis.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • ARM/CPCU/CRIS/RIMS-CRMP or Risk Fellow preferred.
  • 5+ years in the corporate risk management position as a risk management professional; real estate industry preferred.
  • Experienced in Property, Builders Risk, Casualty including construction related liability, Environmental, Directors and Officers Liability, EPL, E&O,Cyber, Fiduciary and Fidelity coverages
  • Detailed knowledge of complex, fully integrated real estate operations to develop a program that meets the firm’s requirements.
