We are representing a New York-based alternative investment management firm, which currently manages nearly $19 billion. The Firm’s investment approach is fundamental and research-intensive through a single, centrally-managed investment team. This team is currently looking to bring on a Research Assistant to support ~10 analysts.

The global research team consists of 54 professionals, organized as a single investment team reporting to the Firm’s two Managing Principals/Portfolio Managers. Analysts are assigned coverage responsibilities across several industries, and coverage is continuously reassessed depending on market conditions, opportunities and workload. Each analyst evaluates investment opportunities across the entire capital structure and involving a variety of investment strategies. The analysts work closely with the Firm’s traders, which are organized by product, and the Firm’s Portfolio Managers. We believe our structure blends the best aspects of traditional generalist and specialist research models, and provides professionals with a very broad investment experience. This individual will primarily support 10 Analysts who are a part of the firm’s Research Team.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Managing multiple calendars and schedules
  • Coordinating & scheduling meetings, sell side and industry conferences, as well as associated 1×1’s
  • Coordinating multi-itinerary travel logistics (domestic and international travel)
  • Managing contacts via Outlook and SLX
  • Database maintenance via A2 Access for broker vote and compliance
  • Source research reports via DataStream, and/or Capital IQ
  • Completing multiple expense reports
  • Arranging video and conference calls
  • Tracking the department’s time off
  • Answering phones
  • Special projects as-assigned

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years’ experience, preferably in finance supporting team of investment professionals
  • Proactive and takes initiative; anticipates needs of the team
  • Extremely organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong admin skills with ability to support 10 analysts
  • Understands the cycle of coverage (ex. Earnings season, conference season, etc.)
  • Strong travel coordination experience; flexible to be available nights/weekends when tracking travel
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
