P&L Analyst

Responsibilities

 

  • Performing the daily reconciliation of complex trading strategies for various commodities: identifying and reconciling differences while adhering to strict daily deadlines
  • Analyzing daily PNL Estimates to ensure accuracy
  • Responding to inquiries from management and trading personnel related to causes of discrepancies between actual PNL and trader estimates
  • Managing the complete transaction lifecycle
  • Providing guidance to traders, schedulers, confirmations, settlements and product control on correctly modeling transactions in systems
  • Perform special projects as assigned which in many cases will include preparation of adhoc position and P&L reports and analysis as required by the commercial team.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Computer Science or a related field of study
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the functions noted above within Energy Commodities; must demonstrate an understanding of the Energy Markets and Risk Management
  • Commodity (Energy preferred) market experience, especially knowledge of Refined Products, Power, and Natural Gas.
  • Strong technical skills in Excel, VBA, SQL, Matlab, and Python are required.
  • Systems experience with Triple Point (CXL / Tempest) is a preferred
  • Consulting and/or Energy Trading and Risk Management System (ETRM) Project Delivery experience is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Superb analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work in an energetic and dynamic environment
  • Track record of taking ownership of issues and being accountable for on-time, on-scope delivery
  • Management of multiple small concurrent projects is a plus
