P&L Analyst

Responsibilities

 

  • Executing the routine settlement of sophisticated trading procedures for several goods: recognizing and settling inconsistencies while following strict daily deadlines
  • Validating trader marks against third party sources such as ICE, CME, TOTEM, Platts, & Argus
  • Build, maintain and refine controls
  • Examining daily PNL Estimates to guarantee precision
  • Answering requests from management and trading personnel linked to causes of discrepancies between actual PNL and trader estimates
  • Overseeing the complete transaction lifecycle
  • Providing guidance to traders, schedulers, confirmations, settlements and product control on correctly modeling transactions in the company systems
  • Collaborating with other operations personnel to resolve issues that may affect the daily PNL
  • Perform special projects as assigned which in many cases will include preparation of ad hoc position and P&L reports and analysis as required by the commercial team

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Computer Science or a related field of study
  • At least 2 years’ experience within Energy Commodities; must demonstrate an understanding of the Energy Markets and Risk Management
  • Commodity (Energy preferred) market experience, especially knowledge of Refined Products, Power, Bulk Commodities, and Natural Gas
  • Strong technical skills in Excel, VBA, SQL, Matlab, and Python are required
  • Systems experience with Triple Point (CXL / Tempest) is a preferred
  • Consulting and/or Energy Trading and Risk Management System (ETRM) Project Delivery experience is a plus
