Payroll Accountant

Northern NJ

Responsibilities

 

  • Reviews and oversees the accounting for all payroll activities.
  • Preparation of benefit-related journal entries, including administration expense accruals, payroll entry, other benefit liabilities.
  • Maintain the accruals for the Company’s annual management bonus and other performance based bonus programs. (will be transitioned – currently handled by Senior Accountant)
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure timely and accurate payments to Third Party Administrators of all Benefit Costs.
  • Reconcile the payroll funding on a weekly basis.
  • Assist in any special projects involving compensation and benefit programs
  • Provides ad-hoc payroll reporting to management, as necessary.
  • Responsible for the calculation and accrual of Sales Commission (possible transition – currently handled by Senior Accountant)
  • Review of trade and barter sales contracts for proper accounting treatment and valuation

 

Requirements

 

  • 3-5 years finance/accounting experience public and/or private
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Prior experience with compensation and benefit accounting
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential Company compensation related information
  • Experience with Ceridian and Oracle Accounting Software a plus
  • General computer proficiency in a windows environment (Word, Etc)
