Municipal Fixed Income Analyst – Healthcare

Responsibilities

 

  • Performing fundamental research on municipal bond issuers, along with related credit monitoring functions.
  • Research is both qualitative and quantitative in nature.
  • Prepare new Municipal Bond Purchase Analysis memos
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of not only the public finance healthcare sector, but also the broader public finance market.
  • Conduct initial and on-going credit analysis on a dedicated portfolio of large and highly complex healthcare issuers, presenting in-depth fundamental credit analysis on a regular basis
  • Preparation of research, correspondence and special reports on current issues in municipal finance
  • Perform credit and transaction analysis including bond structure and financial statement analysis on new and existing transactions.
  • Assist in the quantitative and qualitative preparation and presentation of internal credit memos and external publications.
  • Quantitative analysis and preparation of financial models, cash flow, and debt service analysis
  • Monitor and update credit factors on existing transactions for surveillance purposes.
  • Develop and maintain complex spreadsheets and databases.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements through data analysis.
  • Performing extensive valuation, due-diligence, and pricing analyses

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong finance, credit, legal real estate and/or business background
  • 2-5 years of experience performing municipal bond credit analysis or other exposure to public finance transactions at an investment bank, rating agency, buy-side firm, credit research firm or other financial institution.
  • Experience analyzing of tax-free and taxable investment grade and high yield fixed income securities
  • Municipal finance credit experience with a focus on healthcare transactions (seniors housing, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, continuing care retirement centers, and memory care facilities), preferred.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude & solid analytical skills (including advanced work with financial modeling in Microsoft Excel)
  • Extensive computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
