Manager – Technical Accounting

  • Performs technical accounting research and analysis as required including: analyze, research and conclude on complex accounting issues for a wide variety of business and non-standard transactions and document conclusions in accounting position papers.
  • Resolve technical accounting issues on a timely basis with the Company’s external auditors.
  • Works in tandem with the Director in managing the process necessary to implement new accounting pronouncements:
  • Plans and executes process necessary to evaluate an implement.
  • Drafts white paper documenting management’s evaluation and application of technical accounting matters.
  • Works closely with our accounting and operations teams in evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Stay current on changes to accounting regulations. Summarize new and proposed accounting pronouncements and impact to the Company.
  • Performs contract review of a wide variety of routine transactions, including revenue contracts from customers, and document applicable accounting guidance and conclusions in accounting position papers.
  • Support the Company’s external reporting function, ensuring that the financial statements and disclosures are in conformity with US GAAP.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of critical accounting policies.
  • Some financial reporting responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Prepares the quarterly and annual assessment of liquidity, asset impairment and asset retirement obligations and other annual financial reporting tasks assigned by the Director.
  • Performs detail tie-down review of quarterly and annual filings and related workpapers.
  • Maintains the quarterly and annual financial reporting process for the fund or funds assigned by the Director.
  • Participate in continuing education to further knowledge of oil and gas industry, private equity accounting and reporting, and ongoing SEC and GAAP developments.







  • Minimum of 4-7 years of accounting and/or auditing experience, with at least 2 busy seasons in a “Big 4” accounting firm, CPA required
  • Strong understanding of Financial Accounting Standards, U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements as well as fair valuation for investments
  • Ability to research complex accounting matters and prepare memorandum documenting accounting positions
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting cycle, best practices and data flow among financial systems in compliance with SOX requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Great Plains
  • Ability to work effectively and complete assignments within tight reporting deadlines
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal and follow-through skills
