  • Perform patient interview and intake; prepare patient for triage by RN
  • Obtain full set of vital signs and recognize and report results out of normal range
  • Collect specimens (urine, throat swabs, etc.)
  • Perform diagnostic point of care testing (blood glucose fingerstick, etc.)
  • Document care, including phone notes in the EMR
  • Follow up on abnormal labs and radiology results
  • Administer immunizations and medications according to acceptable standards for safety and infection control
  • Participate in patient and family education with documentation of teaching and patient response
  • Obtain prior approval for medical insurance and prescription refills
  • Maintain current American Heart Association basic life support (BLS) status
  • Actively participates in patient emergency events, including code blue
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and topics in professional practice through participation in continuing education programs
  • Maintain patient care equipment and report any malfunction to the Charge Nurse, Site Director and head of purchasing
  • Contribute to excellent patient satisfaction by maintaining professional communication with patients, family members and colleagues, and providing safe and quality care.
  • Other job duties as required




  • Graduate of an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nursing
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience, preferably in an ambulatory care setting
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
  • Must be flexible, open to change and willing to participate in new initiatives in the department.
