General Manager

We are representing our client who is seeking a General Manager to join their team in the West Loop area of Chicago. The role of the General Manager will be to manage and oversee the day to day operations of your location(s).  Our ideal candidate will have a hospitality background and a strong customer service mentality.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance by maintaining budgets and optimizing expenses
  • Manage the P&L for your location
  • Design strategy and set goals for membership growth and retention
  • Prepare regular reports for upper management
  • Conduct sales functions such as reporting, touring, and issuing member agreements
  • Provide creative solutions to operational and sales issues (e.g. profit decline, employee & member conflicts, loss of memberships etc.)
  • Set organizational structure and processes for your community team as well as for the facilities team
  • Oversee training of new employees, coach, advise and educate your team
  • Serve as the face of the business in your area. Engage in the larger community by attending events, networking with local start-ups and neighborhood organizations
  • Actively play a hands-on role in sales, engaging in negotiations with potential members, and resolving challenging member relations issues
  • Lead tours for VIP guests
  • Review weekly reports and finalize monthly reports that outline community and sales progress

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-4 years of proven strong management experience, preferably as a General Manager in the Hospitality field
  • Experience planning, implementing and managing P&Ls
  • Strong administrative experience – with in depth knowledge of basic computer systems, platforms and functions
  • Team player who has the ability to work independently
  • Willing and eager to learn new systems and technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience and willingness to dive into new technology
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Problem-solving aptitude
