Financial Reporting and Tax Director

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the organization and successful completion of the yearly audits of approximately 55 SIFs and SMFs, guaranteeing compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and UK GAAP as appropriate.
  • Work as the senior contact point with external auditors and service providers, supervising these relationships while guaranteeing the timely resolution and escalation of numerous financial reporting, valuation and tax related matters as applicable.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of various key deliverables such as the annual custody exam, production of audit support packages and coordination of annual tax reporting needs including Schedule K-1s and 1099-MISC forms.
  • Support valuation oversight functions assigned to Funds. The role will assist in the preparation of the variety of reports and analysis, including assistance in the oversight of investments in hedge and private equity funds as well as debt, equity and derivative instruments. Assist with the documentation and compliance with the Fund valuation procedures and coordinate the scheduling of Valuation Committee meetings.
  • Serve as al technical resource to internal operational and investment teams helping to address technical financial reporting and/or tax related queries as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and with investment fund legal documents, i.e., LPA, IMAs.
  • Perform ad hoc research and special projects related to a wide range of technical accounting and financial reporting issues as requested by management.
  • Assist with cross-department projects as applicable to continue to build efficiencies; identify opportunities to reduce risk and increase scalability of existing processes through controls, procedures and technology enhancements.
  • Proactively apprise management of changes to financial reporting and tax legislation that might impact Fund reporting obligations.
  • Manage and develop members of the Financial Reporting & Tax team

 

Requirements

 

  • A college undergraduate degree; preferably in accounting or finance.
  • CPA ideal
  • At least 8 years’ work experience ideally in accounting/auditing firm with emphasis on fund of funds, hedge funds and/or private equity funds’ experience preferred
  • Excellent MS Excel and Word skills are required
