Role Overview – Construction Manager:
Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide effective oversight and management of supplemental work projects and ensure successful delivery in accordance with safety, quality, cost, and time targets.
Total Compensation: $130,000.00 – $150,000.00 + bonus
Location/Office Policy: Somerville, Massachusetts (80% field, 20% office), with company vehicle provided
Responsibilities of the Construction Manager include:
• Manage and oversee assigned construction projects from inception to completion
• Coordinate construction activities, scheduling, and track outages
• Perform field inspections to ensure the scope of work conformance
• Develop project health reports and attend project meetings
• Collaborate with project management to resolve issues and mitigate risks
• Manage relationships with 3rd party vendors and internal/external stakeholders
• Support the development of specifications for outsourced field services
• Ensure the highest level of work quality and identify improvement opportunities
• Drive safety performance and compliance with regulations and standards
Qualifications of the Construction Manager include:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field
• Excellent verbal, written, and basic accounting skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug/alcohol screen and background check
• 5+ years of construction management experience, ideally in rail/transportation
• Proficiency in project controls (scheduling, resourcing)
• Knowledge of DOT, FRA, AREMA, AAR, and OSHA rules and regulations
• Competency in construction means and methods
• Direct experience with rail projects (track, signal, bridge & building, environmental)
• Passenger train system or Class 1 railroad experience essential
