Job Overview – Derivatives Trader (Proprietary and Executions):
Take on a vital role with our client as a Derivatives Trader (Proprietary and Executions) in lower Fairfield County, CT, specializing in futures hedging and risk management. Leverage your expertise to drive profit generation, manage contracts, and collaborate with teams to refine trading strategies.
Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000/year + bonus
Location: Fairfield County, CT
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Responsibilities as the Derivatives Trader (Proprietary and Executions):
- Strategy Development: Design and maintain trading strategies across products to ensure cohesive and targeted execution.
- Risk Management: Monitor compliance with company risk limits for physical and futures positions, addressing discrepancies proactively.
- Market Benchmarking: Ensure the accuracy of physical and futures mark-to-market benchmarks and resolve discrepancies effectively.
- Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including the CEO, Finance, and Risk, to manage credit risk, country risk, and cross-product transactions.
- Performance Monitoring: Present annual trading forecasts, profit targets, and performance reviews, aligning with company goals.
Qualifications for the Derivatives Trader (Proprietary and Executions):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration required.
- Experience: 1-3 years in Commodities/Derivative Trading at a broker-dealer or bank, with significant exposure to commodity futures and options.
- Expertise: Knowledge of commodity markets, including nonferrous concentrates and raw materials, hedging, transportation, and risk management.
- Skills: Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Network: Established network of industry contacts involved in raw material purchasing or sales is highly desirable.
- Preferred: Banking credit/risk/trading program experience, transferable book of business, and compliance exposure in a trading environment.
